In my quest to find better keywords, I’ve tried many different keyword research tools. Up until recently, my favorite had been the Google keywords tool (GKT). The only problem with the GKT, is that sometimes, it just “pukes out” data.

Lots of data, but nothing that can really be used easily. Let’s walk through the steps:

1. You had to first search the GKT for keywords.
2. Export the keywords to a csv that you later imported into Excel or something spreadsheet program.
3. After exporting the csv and importing it to Excel, you had to eliminate the words that we not relevant to your campaign, the keywords that had no search volume and the ones that just didn’t make sense.
4. Then you have to sort the remaining words into usable groups.
5. Go to lunch because you just spent the entire morning on this.

There’s nothing wrong with GKT, it’s just a bit cumbersome to use.

Enter Traffic Travis to the rescue. In one window, you can perform your keyword research, sort, group and export the words into a csv, txt or to your clipboard. Awesomesauce.

Using Traffic Travis I did some keyword research that would normally take me a little over 2 hours in under 30 minutes. The tool searches on Google, Yahoo and MSN/Bing all at the same time and has integrated video tutorials.

There are 2 flavors of the tool, a free and a paid version, but the free tool does a lot of what the paid tool does. You decide which one works best for you, even if it is that you hire me to do the research for you.
