Great Interview Experiment Interview

4 December 2009 No Comment

A week or so ago, I participated in the “Great Interview Experiment.” This is the interview that came out of that post. Before we get to the actual interview, I want to thank Marla for playing along with me.

I liked this whole interview thing, so methinks I’ll do an interview every month or something like that. Without further ado, here’s the interview:

1. How long have you been blogging?
I started my first blog at the end of July of this year, so that makes it to be a little over 4 months.

2. How many blogs do you write and/ or maintain?
Okay, so it’s time for revelations. I have two blogs. HOWEVER, they are not linked to each other. You see, this little ol’ blog is written under a pseudonym. Marla Zampesti does not exist. And you thought you knew me, didn’t you? Well, turns out you do know me pretty well. I wanted to write a blog about the real me, but I was afraid that family would find it and possibly get their feelings hurt with what I might be saying, so I created Marla. Marla is the true “me.” And everything you read about Marla has actually happened to me.

My other blog/website is for friends and family that live back East, written under my real identity. So, basically, it’s G-rated. My husband and I put pics out there and blog about weekly happenings (it’s pretty boring, if you must know). I’m afraid I can’t link you to it, not because I don’t want y’all to see it, but because I’m afraid it might backfire on me and family would figure out that I have Marla’z blog. Am I paranoid? Absolutely! But if there was a way to be certain that Marla wouldn’t be revealed, I would consider sharing…..

Trust me, Marla’z blog is MUCH better!!!!

3. What’s your favorite thing about blogging?
Well, that’s easy, I can write about whatever the hell I want and it gets published instantly. I don’t need to find a publisher or an editor or any of those peeps. I just need to click ‘post.’ Ta-da!

4. Do you keep track of your stats? If so, what’s your post with the most visitors ever?
Yes, hold on, let me check
……..
……..
……..

Okay, so currently, Help Me Help You is at the top of the list, with 64 page views. I gotta give credit where credit is due – ICLW is the reason for the clicking season.

5. How do you feel about online privacy?
What privacy? It doesn’t exist. Ever hear of whitepages, com? No, really, I hope it can be accomplished, but I wrote a little about the flaws in this post. Basically, once your info is out there, it’s out there. And you can’t control it. Anyone can write anything about you, and post it for all to internet world to see. Court dates, tax records, high school report cards, you name it.

6. Are you also on twitter or facebook?
Nada on Facebook. I’m a non-believer. Call me crazy and abnormal, but I refer back to my previous answer. Privacy does not exist on Facebook. I have found several loopholes myself, and firstly, I’m not even a computer genius, and secondly, I’m not a member, so I shouldn’t be able to access what I can access. Scary, huh?

I do have a twitter account. Again, Marla is the real me. My husband and I also jointly have one. However, he does most of the posting on that one and complains that I should be contributing more. Once again, I can’t link you to that account, either. Sorry. Too risky.

7. How much time do you spend online on a daily basis?
Ummm, online or blogging? I send tons of time online. Too much, really! I need a blog-cation desperately, but I can’t bring myself to schedule one. Please help!

8. What do you do for a living?
Well, I work in an accounting department doing accounting stuff. I actually work for a media outlet, but that’s as specific as it’s going to get (since I blog about my co-workers). In my past lifetime, I worked in healthcare (in a very stressful environment). Now, I’m all about crunching numbers. No one dies if I eff it up.

9. What’s your favorite drink?
I’d have to say, an Absolut Cosmo.

10. What’s your favorite thing about Austin?
I love the young hip crowd, week-end brunches, and tame weather. Now, I’ll tell you what I don’t like: the effin’ traffic! [B$%^&] donkey balls!
