Allow me to get a little bit religious with you. I promise this won’t hurt.

My church, is not a mega church, but it’s a growing church. Two of the three pillars of the church, are connecting people with God and connecting people with each other. So, we have small groups that meet at someone’s house every week so we can connect with each other.

When we get together, we study a biblical principle, have dinner together and just hang out.

Foundations

A recent topic of study, was foundations.

Specifically, we were talking about having a strong foundation and about making God the foundation of your life. We talked about how if your foundation is weak, anything that you build on top of it will be shaky and weak.

If you build on a weak foundation, when a storm comes, the structure will not be able to weather the storm. It takes work to build a strong foundation, but more importantly it also takes time.

I’ll step away from the religious theme for now to get to the point of all this.

It’s not hard to have an online presence that is effective and targeted. It’s not rocket science, or brain surgery.

Building an effective online presence is not easy either. It will however take work, but it’s not hard work, like working in the sun for 10 hours a day building houses or building freeway overpasses.

It will take work.

It will take laying a strong foundation. Your online presence will only grow as big and as strong as it’s foundation. It will require consistent and regular effort to build.

You should not treat your online presence as a hobby, unless you only want a hobby. By the way, there’s nothing wrong with having a hobby.

Building a strong foundation takes time, it takes commitment and it takes vision. Take the time to build the foundation, then build upon that.

Get to building.

Get started building your foundation by deciding how you want build it. Decide if you’re going to use videos, podcasts, blogs or something else.

The best and easiest way to build an online presence is to systematize your work. Come up with a method for maximizing and leveraging the work that you’re already doing. What I mean by that, is that you should consider turning your video in to a podcast, in to a blog post and in to articles as well.

I really enjoyed this post. The house built on solid rock is one of the many lessons of the Bible that can be applied to EVERY area in life. Thank you for being bold enough to post it!
