Why I love Twitter

1 April 2009 2 Comments

At work, we’re looking to revamp our current CMS. With this in mind, I’ve been testing a couple of different platforms.  CMS, for the record, stands for Content Management Solution.  We need to test several different platforms to be sure that we pick the best of the best.

I, of course, have an opinion as to what the best of the best is, but I digress.

We started testing something called “Mojo Portal.” I’d never heard of it, and none of my co-workers had ever heard of it either. We found out about this CMS from a friend of a friend of a co-worker’s friend.

On the surface, Mojo Portal seems to meet most of the requirements that we have for a new CMS, meaning that it’s free, it’s scalable and skinnable (meaning that we can change the appearance of it, etc.). It also meets another sudden requirement in that it is coded in ASP dot NET.

I go on twitter, and say:

Mojoportal tweet 1

Mojoportal tweet 1

Fast forward a few hours later in the day, and I get this tweet:

mojoportal2

I love Twitter. Where else, or how else, would I have been able to get access like this? Sure, I could’ve emailed, or called, or whatever, but this was just too cool not to talk about it.

Hats off to mojoportal for great use of a social media tool to monitor the talk about their brand/ company.

What’s something cool that’s happened to you on twitter?

I’ve been going to some local Tweet-ups in an effort to meet new people and get out and hang out in the city more. I’m being exposed to people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

Cool! I love going to tweetups also. They’re one of those events that just wouldn’t happen on a different social network, methinks.
