Marketing Latinos to host a free interactive marketing bootcamp

Marketing Latinos will be hosting the first ever, that I’m aware of, mini social media/ online marketing/ multimedia production boot camp in Hays county. We’re calling it:
Hays Interactive Marketing Bootcamp
The date we’re looking at is February 3rd and haven’t quite finalized the venue yet, but it’s looking like we’re going to be at one of the new hotels that have sprung up in either Kyle or Buda. The bootcamp will be free to attend.
We want to host the bootcamps once a month, probably the first Tuesday of the month and …

Marketing Companies Attacking Spanish Language Market

I’m purposefully using the word “attack” and not “target.” I’ve been paying a lot more attention to how companies market, promote and sell goods to Spanish speaking markets and I’m not liking what I see.
One of the markets that I wanted to focus on with Marketing Latinos was helping companies and individuals reach Spanish speaking markets in a manner that is both respectful and profitable. Seems like no one else is really interested, if you go by the current commercials being aired on network tv.
Nothing irks me more than seeing …

How to use Facebook for Business

Today’s slideshare presenation is brought to you courtesy of Hubspot. They’re an inbound marketing firm based out of Boston, MA. I’m not selling anything from them, but I am working on my Hubspot inbound marketing certification.
Why am I working on a certification from Hubspot?
Because I like a lot of the things that they do as a company when it comes to inbound marketing.
Although I don’t entirely agree with everything that they point out in this slide presentation, I do think that there’s value in the thoughts expressed.
I …

The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs

Happy 2010 folks!
Here’s a little something that I thought y’all would enjoy. It’s an analysis of the presentation secrets of Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs
View more presentations from Carmine Gallo.

I’m planning on doing more public speaking in 2010 and will take this advice to heart.
The bottom line from the slides, is to take the time to prepare your presentation, take the time to practice your presentation and practice makes perfect. Steve Jobs wasn’t born a great presenter, he became one over time from …

Discover your passion

We’ve always been fascinated with people that are passionate about what they do. There’s just something infectious about their passion that just makes watching them do their work, or experiencing the fruits of their labor very enjoyable.
For instance, over on the BBC, they have this story about a director from Montevideo, Uruguay named Fede Alvarez . Fede got a $30 million deal to make a Hollywood movie but that’s not the interesting part of the story.
What’s interesting about this story, is that Fede got that job because he released …

What Matters Now

Back when I first started online, I subscribed to every thing. Every list, every blog, every product launch you name it I was on that list. As time went on, I discovered the “unsubscribe” button and learned to use it liberally.
Nowadays, I subscribe to fewer than 10 lists and I actually regularly read less than 5 of those. It’s not that the remaining lists I’m subscribed to aren’t good, it’s just that during any given week only 3 or 4 of those emails have a subject that interests me.
One …

Josh talks about Bump

This is one of the last videos from the Kyle Chamber of Commerce Ambassador BASH. In this video, Josh and I talk about an iPhone app called “Bump.” We demo the application for you in the video. If you’re interested, the app is a free download.

There’s one more video from the event, which we’re debating posting. Anyway, thanks for watching!

How To Spot An SEO Scam

I recently wrote a post explaining what SEO, or Search Engine Optimization is and gave you a very brief outline of how SEO is done. Today, I’d originally planned to talk about SEM, aka Search Engine Marketing but I received an email that I just had to share with you first.
The email, is from someone that I’ve never heard of, came completely unsolicited and is by definition spam. Here’s the text of the email for your perusal:
We would like to get your website on first page of Google.
All of …

Soda pop stop video

This is awesome. This guy is named John Neese and he has some serious passion about what he sells and what he does for a living.
The video is about 13 minutes long, but it’s well worth watching. I had no idea that there were so many different brands and types of “flavored water with a lot of bubbles.”

There are several important business lessons in this video. The most important, in my opinion, is to be passionate about what you do. You also need to be knowledgeable about your market and …

What is Search Engine Optimization?

Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO, is essentially part art and part science. Let me give you my definition of it, and a brief description of how it’s done rather than regurgitating or simply posting someone else’s definition.
Before I go into my definition, I want to make sure that I mention what the search engine’s job is. The search engine’s job is to find the content that most closely matches and is most relevant to what the person sitting at the computer is searching is looking for.
How search engines …
