OK, so maybe not on steroids, but definitely this is an enhanced twitter search. The other day, I explained what the twitter hash tags are and how to use them to track trending conversations on Twitter.
Of course, the downside of trending conversations, is that it’s only a matter of time until some idiot spammer gets wind of the trend and starts sending the same message over and over again. Invariably, the message will say something like:
“Get more info about my amazing online assistance, money making, shocking lead pulling, brand …

If you’ve spent any time on twitter, you may have noticed people closing tweets with a text like this:
#3turnoffwords
or
#followfriday
or
#tcc
You may wondering, what do those mean?
Well, those are called hashtags, and essentially they are topics that people are talking about. In the current version of twitter, the application is kind enough to show you in the sidebar what the most popular hashtags are at any given moment.
If a hashtag you’re interested in isn’t in the sidebar, no worries, you can actually perform a twitter search and find all of the …

I’ve been working a lot on my twitter presence. As such, I’ve discovered that there are some things that are more likely than other to get me to unfollow you. In talking to other tweeple (people on twitter) I discovered that a lot of us share these same guidelines.
Without further ado, here are my 5 things:
1. Marketing bot.
If all you do, is twitter about your program, your ebook, your this, your that, your the other and how I can buy your stuff using a special coupon or whatever, you’ll …

I’ve never been one to give much thought to the significance of knowing internet lingo. To me, it’s second nature. I just know what T1, DHCP, TCP/IP and Domain name are. I very quickly picked up on the meaning of other terms like “retweet,” “pinged” and “facebooked” among others. I know these terms because I am a part of the internet social media tribe. As a member I know the lingo.
Since I know the lingo, other members of the tribe recognize me as a member.
Simply put, knowing the lingo means …

One of the neatest things about Twitter is that it is easy to automate many functions. One of the most misunderstood and misused functions on Twitter is the direct message. There are third party services that let you automatically message people that sign up to follow you on Twitter, I do not believe that you should auto direct message people when they follow you.
Let me say, that I used to auto-message people when they followed me back in my early days on Twitter. I thought that a quick welcome message …

In case you don’t know, by default twitter allows you to follow up to 2000 people before limits start to kick in. Some of the limits are based on the number of followers that you have, and other limits are based on things like API calls and whatnot that only the uber-geeks among us understand.
Most people won’t care about the 2000 people follow limit since they have no interest in following more than that number anyway. Regardless, I think that a lot of people will want to know how …

Today’s episode of twitter love, which by the way sounds like it should be the title for a novel, comes from a brief discussion that I had with another user.
Apparently, there’s a university out there that has a degree in online marketing:
Well, I don’t think that a degree like that is really worth the time and effort that it will take to attain it.
By the time you graduate, the technology and techniques being taught in the school will be old. Anyone that has tried to sell anything online, knows that …

At work, we’re looking to revamp our current CMS. With this in mind, I’ve been testing a couple of different platforms. CMS, for the record, stands for Content Management Solution. We need to test several different platforms to be sure that we pick the best of the best.
I, of course, have an opinion as to what the best of the best is, but I digress.
We started testing something called “Mojo Portal.” I’d never heard of it, and none of my co-workers had ever heard of it either. We found out …

Yes, I know this hit the twittersphere on Tuesday. I am posting it today on purpose. I just want to see how many people will revisit this video today, short attention span and all that sort of thing you know?
