Video Lighting Tip

We’ve been looking to expand our services here at Marketing Latinos, and one of the things that we’ve been doing more of are videos. I think the best way to describe our video service is as a “we bring the studio to you” service.
We’ve shot videos in living rooms, sound studios, rehearsal spaces and so on. From shooting in so many different environments, we’ve been compiling a list of things that can ruin an otherwise perfectly good video.

One of the things that can really ruin the quality of a video …

How do you distribute videos online?

We’ve been doing a lot more work with video for clients here at Marketing Latinos. We’ve started branching out into political videos for local candidates besides the usual promotional videos for people.
To say that it’s been a learning experience would be an understatement.
The entire political realm is something that fascinates me from the spectator side but now also from the content producing side as well. More on that in a future post since the point of this post is to answer a common client question.
Lots of potential clients always ask …

Pictures from Pittsburgh

This has nothing to do with marketing or social media or anything along those lines. This is just a post with a slideshow of the pictures that we took in Pittsburgh when we went there for Pittsburgh Podcamp 4.

All of the pictures in the set were taken with my Canon PowerShot A470.

Twitter for local business

Scott Stratten over at his unmarketing blog wrote a really good post about how businesses can use twitter to engage with clients in their local area. In a nutshell, the point is to stop marketing and start engaging.
Don’t just do a simple search for people on twitter in your local area and then start spamming them. Engage with them, get to know them, let them get to know you and take it from there. Scott advocates the use of various tools to make the sorting and engaging easier. One tool …

I’ve been working a lot on my twitter presence. As such, I’ve discovered that there are some things that are more likely than other to get me to unfollow you. In talking to other tweeple (people on twitter) I discovered that a lot of us share these same guidelines.
Without further ado, here are my 5 things:
1. Marketing bot.
If all you do, is twitter about your program, your ebook, your this, your that, your the other and how I can buy your stuff using a special coupon or whatever, you’ll …

What is twitter?
Twitter is a micro-blogging website or service. What micro-blogging means is that it is a site where you can blog but you are limited to 140 characters or less.
In 140 characters you need to convey the message that you want. Usually it’s something short, like what you’re having for lunch, the plane they just crashed off the runway, or the pictures of the terrorists in Mumbai.

Who uses twitter?

Twitter has a global reach, which is one of its strengths. The way it works is like this, after you …

Y’all know that saying right? Give a man a fish and you’ve fed him for the day, teach that same man how to fish and you’ve fed him for a lifetime.
That’s my philosophy when it comes to all things online and social media related. I believe that too many people are beholden to other people because they have not learned “how to fish” so to speak.
I would like the opportunity to teach you how to fish, and at the same time, I think that my own skills will …

I’ve learned a few things over the past 10 months in my internet marketing career.  It still feels weird to say that, but if I’m going to be serious about internet marketing, then I need to treat it as a career and not a hobby.  I thought for my 100th post, I’d share the following with you.
One of the most important lessons that I’ve learned, has to do with the resource box on my articles.
Do you know what the resource box is?
It’s that box at the bottom of the article …

As you may, or may not know, I’m a bum marketer.
What that means, is that I subscribe to the school of thought that marketing is so easy that even a bum could do it.  The other tenet, is that we do not pay for traffic to our sites.  All traffic comes to our offers using free methods, either SEO, social bookmarking or article marketing.
The most powerful method, is article marketing.  I was not a believer in article marketing, until I started seeing results.  I was convinced that it could not …

I’ve learned a new term over the last couple of days. The term is pre-selling.
Up until recently, I was having a hard time wrapping my mind around how affiliate marketing worked. How can I sell something that I haven’t used? It seemed disingeuos at best, and deceiptful at worst. Enter the concept of pre-selling.

Image via Wikipedia

Turns out, I don’t have to sell people on the product that I’m promoting, nor do I have to lie and claim that I’m using something when I’m not really using …
