Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO, is essentially part art and part science. Let me give you my definition of it, and a brief description of how it’s done rather than regurgitating or simply posting someone else’s definition.

Here are some quick and dirty guidelines for picking out a domain name. This is part of a chapter in my upcoming booklet about setting up your website. Without further ado:
1. Do not pick a name with hyphens, underscores or dashes.
People don’t know the difference between them. Furthermore, imagine you’re in the elevator with someone, trying to tell someone your url (aka domain name) and you have to say “double u, double u, double u, dot the, hyphen, coffee, hyphen, guy, dot com.” Chances are really good that the …

Scott Stratten over at his unmarketing blog wrote a really good post about how businesses can use twitter to engage with clients in their local area. In a nutshell, the point is to stop marketing and start engaging.

Turns out, I don’t have to sell people on the product that I’m promoting, nor do I have to lie and claim that I’m using something when I’m not really using …

You know, this is one of the things that bothers me about Adwords/Adsense.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m talking about Google’s advertising program.
I think that it’s against google rules to talk poorly about them, but this is just too much. In a nutshell, the program works like this: advertisers create ads that Google then pushes out to content producers/ providers so the ads can be displayed on relevant pages. As a content producer/ provider, I get a cut of the ad revenue whenever someone clicks …
